Asp training
ASP's training network/warranty increase competitive edge - Newsline
Since technical training is essential to increase market share and, in many cases, retain existing business, Automotive Service Professionals (ASP) and the Council of Advanced Automotive Trainers (C.A.A.T.) have expanded ASP Technical Training, the industry's premier training program.
Known as the ASP eTECH network, the new program is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ASP members as another valuable program feature. Set up is quick and easy; shops and technicians are ready to take advantage of all the eTECH Network's features in no time.
To avoid wasting a technician's valuable time on information already mastered, ASP has introduced the comprehensive Core and Driveability Assessements to determine a technician's exact training needs and course recommendations.
E-Tech members can track training progress with ASP'S on-line Career Development Resume. E-Tech Network member shops have unlimited access to each technician's skill level and progress. This simplifies keeping track of test scores, completed/needed training, etc. In addition, by utilizing the e-Tech Network, unlimited Technical Service Bulletins and the latest training updates are readily available.
In addition, the process assists technicians in reaching their ASE training goals. After mastering the core competencies, the technician is ready to tackle the ASE mini assessments to determine readiness to take the ASE exams. ASP provides each technician with a $25 reimbursement for each ASE exam successfully completed.
The e-Tech Network courses are listed by ASE task areas, and include Engine Repair, Suspension and Steering, Brakes Electrical/Electronic Systems and Heating and Air Conditioning.
Along with online assessments, instructor-led training also is available. Because eTech is affiliated with the CAAT web-site, the tech or shop owner can view available classes and register on-line. They also are listed in the ASP catalog. Qualifying ACE training from ASP vendor partners is available as well.
Tied to technical competence is the customer's confidence in the facility's work. To this end, ASP has launched its North American Warranty program. It covers parts and labor on services provided by ASP member facilities. Coverage, including more than a dozen systems, is for 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first.
The program, honored by ASP facilities throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico, adds a number of features/benefits to a shop's menu, including perceived value, referrals and increased trust.
