Ebony Fashion Fair's 'Living It Up' makes sassy showing in Chicago
The EBONY Fashion Fair recently brought "Living It Up" to the Windy City.
And from the capacity crowd and thrilled audience at the Arie Crown Theatre, McCormick Place, the fashion extravaganza still has what it takes to please after 47 years.
Hoods are all the rave this season and plenty were shown on jumpsuits, sweaters and jackets. A fitted chenille gown from Thierry Mugler Couture, Paris, featured a velvet-lined hood that converted to a floor-sweeping train in the back. Plenty of designs made of silk, feathers, velvet and ruffles took center stage as well. A silk gown by French designer Tilman Grawe was made of colorful ostrich feathers. Creations as unique as it heart-shaped sweater set to a birthday cake dress had the audience not believing their eyes.
Creations were shown by American, Italian, French, British, Japanese and Canadian designers this year:
The Chicago Inter-Alumni Council (CIAC)/United Negro College Fund (UNCF) sponsored this year's event to benefit UNCE Proceeds support the 39-member colleges.
