Corel Announces Strategic Alliance with EBIZ Enterprises: Companies to offer a comprehensive Linux ISP Solution - Company Business and Marketing

Corel Corporation (NASDAQ:CORL)(TSE:COR.) and EBIZ Enterprises, Inc. Monday announced they have formed a strategic on-line relationship within the Linux community by signing two, multi-year agreements.

Under the terms of the Virtual Internet Service Provider (VISP) agreement, EBIZ grants to Corel a licence to bundle EBIZ's Linux-based ISP, Linuxwired.net, into the Corel LINUX OS. Customers can sign up to the VISP services using EBIZ's dial-up client. A download of the LinuxWired ISP client will soon be available on the linux.corel.com Web site. The VISP will provide 150 hours per month of dial-up Internet service for Linux-based computer systems for a monthly fee of US $16.95.

EBIZ identified the need for a pure Linux ISP and developed the first Linux-based proprietary dial-up client that configures the desktop for connection to the Internet under both Corel Linux and Red Hat Linux distributions.

"With this agreement, we've taken what was a highly technical process and made it simple and user-friendly," said Carey Stanton, executive vice-president of business development at Corel Corporation. "This native Linux ISP will enable us to better meet the needs of our Linux customers by providing a smooth connection to the Web and much-needed support services."

Corel and EBIZ also entered into an affiliate program agreement to offer EBIZ customers access to Corel's on-line printing, graphic design, on-line calendaring, contact management, E-mail solutions and other Web-based services. Corel customers will be offered access to EBIZ's extensive line of Linux products and services.

Corel has partnered with EBIZ Enterprises, Inc. in the past. In addition to these agreements, the two companies recently signed a deal to bundle the Corel LINUX OS with EBIZ branded products.
