Sistina Software Inc. and FalconStor Software Inc. (Nasdaq:FALC), today announced a joint partnership that will allow the two companies to serve customers with lower cost, more flexible IP-based SAN solutions. Together, FalconStor's IPStor(TM) software suite and Sistina's Global File System(TM) (GFS) software provide large and medium enterprises with the autonomy to create highly secure and available data storage environments, independent of vendor, platform, hardware, or protocol. The two companies will showcase this technology with live demonstrations presented in the Sistina exhibit (No. 328) during LinuxWorld Conference and Expo in New York City, January 30- February 1.
Sistina's GFS, a widely acclaimed clustered file system for Linux, allows multiple servers on a storage area network (SAN) to have read/write access to a single file system on the shared SAN devices. This compliments the advanced virtualization capabilities of IPStor to provide sophisticated file management capabilities of IP-based SANs. IPStor enables organizations to use both SAN and network attached storage (NAS) in a single management environment. This provides great flexibility regardless of whether the organization is Internet Protocol-based, Fibre Channel-based, or both. IPStor's network-based management paradigm off-loads and consolidates traditional, individual server-based storage management tasks such as backup, restore, volume management, mirroring, snapshot and replication from the application servers, resulting in further reduction of administrative overhead.
"It is clear that by combining the respective strengths of Sistina and FalconStor technologies, our joint customers benefit from a very powerful, yet lower cost data management system," commented Matthew O'Keefe, Founder & CTO of Sistina. "This solution meets the growing market demand for a solution that delivers enterprise-class performance at a dramatically reduced price."
"Businesses are exploring ways to manage the growing abundance of mission critical data, and the challenges of maintaining data availability is an industry-wide concern," said ReiJane Huai, President and CEO of FalconStor. "FalconStor's technology helps ensure continuous access to valuable information in Sistina's clustered file system, giving customers point-in-time consistency and complete data and transactional integrity for point-in-time copying, Zero-Impact backup, and remote replication."
FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq:FALC) helps enterprises rise above ever-expanding storage complexities and costs by providing a state-of-the-art software-only storage networking solution, consolidating storage management while drastically improving storage efficiency and quality of service.
