Qnext Releases the World's Most Versatile P2P Communications Suite; "Debuts at 2004 JavaOne Conference in Partnership with Sun Microsystems - free
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, June 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Qnext Corp. today announced the public beta release of its groundbreaking P2P communications suite available for the Windows and Linux operating systems. Qnext is the first comprehensive peer to peer product designed from the ground up, to become the "nexus" of P2P user interactions across multiple devices. Qnext dramatically improves how people securely communicate, share and interact with rich media. The product is being showcased at the 2004 JavaOne conference in San Francisco (visit Booth No. 1320) as a featured iForce Partner of Sun Microsystems.
Through a single product, Qnext currently offers the following P2P services Universal Instant Messaging (Qnext, MSN, AIM, Yahoo, ICQ), Video Conferencing, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), File Transfer, File Sharing, Group Text Chat, Online Game, Advanced Photo Sharing and Remote PC Access.
No longer will users have to run multiple server based IM clients to communicate with their online friends. Qnext breaks down these barriers for millions of users with interoperable instant messaging, that works with the four most popular instant messaging products. Unlike other Voice over IP products, Qnext users can communicate between each other using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Video Conferencing and drag-and-drop File Transfers and much more...all at the same time.
Qnext is far more then just another P2P Instant Messaging client. Qnext offers exciting services in one suite without the need for multiple applications, using the company's patent-pending technologies. It allows for secure P2P communication, delivery of services and management of online relationships.
Qnext uses a unique concept for managing shared content and services called Zones. These are private, shared environments where Qnext users host and share online services and content. A Zone can run an individual service or multiple services, all within the same Zone. When a user opens a Qnext Zone, they connect directly using a secure protocol and are able to share services and content, without any limitations on file size.
"We are pleased to work closely with Qnext on releasing a leading-edge P2P technology that realizes the benefits of developing in Java. Qnext offers tremendous value to the end-user by uniting services such as video conferencing, universal instant messaging and simplified content sharing in one application. These are features that Sun's Java Desktop System users are very excited about," said Curtis Sasaki, Vice President of Desktop Solutions at Sun Microsystems. "The added benefit of cross platform support allows users on the variety of systems to also communicate share and work together".
Qnext is developed using Java and utilizes a services-oriented architecture, where each online service is a plug-in to the Qnext core. This means that using Qnext's API developers can easily create new unrestricted services and services that run in Qnext's "sand box". This approach facilitates the rapid expansion of services by the large development community.
"Three years ago, we had a vision to create the world best P2P communications suite that will serve as the destination point for P2P interaction on any device," said Oren Asher, Qnext Chairman & CEO. "We are moving beyond the hype of P2P technology by providing a product with unmatched capabilities and services, a product that can be expanded, customized and address multiple market segments, by engaging partners and the development community. People now have the freedom of direct communications and the potential to access a virtually limitless range of services built around their needs".
Asher continues to say, "Our close relationship with Sun Microsystems will help our company grow through strategic opportunities and exposure to the Java development community".
Earlier this year, Qnext was unveiled to much critical acclaim at Demo 2004 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
"Qnext has built the best instant messenger/instant file sharing client we've ever seen. This simple-to-share-and-use client lets friends share photos and files; chat in text, video, or audio; and even play games. This Java-based platform also creates an ecosystem for developers to deliver new applications to consumers. As this platform grows, Qnext may well become the nexus for peer-to-peer interactions," added Chris Shipley, Executive Producer of DEMO 2004.
Qnext is currently available for Windows and Linux. The company plans to release a Mac version of Qnext later this year. Qnext will evolve as the primary P2P control mechanism for managing content & communications on computers, wireless devices, and other devices that connect into the Digital Home network.
Qnext uses high level security that includes 512-bit user authentication and 192-bit encryption on all P2P data communications. The product is 100% spyware free.
Downloading and using Qnext is completely free for all users. The final release of Qnext will offer a combination of free services and premium services that are available to users on a subscription basis. Qnext can be downloaded immediately by visiting http://www.qnext.com/.
