Michigan State University Contracts mycomPRO mailMAX II for Email Protection

CINCINNATI -- Mycom Group, Inc. (OTCBB:MYCO), a technology products, managed services, and software development company, announced that it has secured a contract with Michigan State University to provide email and virus filtering using mycomPRO(TM) mailMAX II. Michigan State University located in East Lansing, Michigan has an enrollment of about 45,000. MSU, known internationally as a major U.S. public university with global reach, has been advancing knowledge and transforming lives through innovative teaching, research, and outreach for nearly 150 years.

Michigan State University joins the growing list of educational institutions that have chosen mycomPRO(TM) mailMAX II from a large group of email filtering products. Last week, Mycom announced the addition of Northern Kentucky University and Oakland Community College to its client list.

Mycom's President, and Chief Operating Officer, Jim Bobbitt stated, "Since introducing the new technology in February, Mycom has built our base of mailMAX II clients, focusing primarily on corporations and law firms. However, during June we added three major educational institutions. It appears schools are becoming very aware of the potential liabilities and exposure to inappropriate content that email presents. We scan about a million emails a day and during July, about 82% were junk mail messages with over 3% containing viruses. The volume of unwanted spam is growing daily and it is costing companies and organizations an estimated $10 billion in lost productivity annually."

Mycom's President continued, "We are not just adding businesses and universities, we have also contracted a number of school districts. For example, we recently added the staff's of eleven school districts in North Central Colorado through a cooperative service agency, Centennial BOCES (CBOCES). This agency provides services to member school districts encompassing over 41,000 students in a geographical area of 4,257 square miles in Weld, Boulder, and Larimer Counties."

mailMAX II scans both inbound and outbound email checking for viruses, harassing or inappropriate (pornographic) content, pictures, and attachments while blocking up to 98% of unwanted spam.

The new, more powerful, spam and virus filtering service, built by Mycom, operates on a highly secure Linux cluster. New and enhanced features include 60% faster processing time, the ability to create users and groups for each domain, greater granularity in spam filtering, an improved user interface, a summary notification option, an enhanced queue monitor and a bypass list for every setting.

It controls attachments, and oversized message delivery and provides unauthorized encryption detection. Address list and bypass list management is available and policy can be controlled by an administrator.

The technology employs a tiered approach to help combat the ever-changing and rapidly growing problem of spam. The approach consists of four tiers, working in concert and providing granular tailoring of the system to a client's specific needs.
