Corel, Red Hat Partner To Port Linux To The Strongarm
Red Hat Software Inc has agreed to bring its distribution of the Linux operating system to Corel Computer's NetWinder family of thin clients and servers. As part of a three-year agreement, Red Hat will port Red Hat Linux 5.1 and future releases of the software to StrongARM, the microprocessor on which NetWinders run. The new port will replace the custom version of Red Hat Linux 4.2 presently shipping with NetWinder. Corel wins the right to use the Red Hat name and logo on NetWinder products. The Canadian company also gets to distribute Red Hat CD ROMs and printed documentation.
