Make Your Phone Your Own With Kodak's New Mobile Phone Wallpaper
EMERYVILLE, Calif. -- Access All the Photos in Your Digital Collection and Save them as Wallpaper to Personalize Your Mobile Phone
Ofoto, Inc., an Eastman Kodak Company subsidiary, announced today the addition of Mobile Phone Wallpaper to KODAK Mobile Service, giving people an easy way to use their favorite digital pictures as background photos on their mobile phones. With KODAK Mobile Service, mobile phone users can now access any of the photos in their KODAK Mobile Service or Ofoto.com collections to personalize their handsets. Because Kodak maintains the profiles for an extensive and ever growing set of mobile phones, the selected image is re-sized to match the specific phone screen size.
According to the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association (CTIA), as of August 2004, nearly 168 million Americans are registered cell phone users--an increase of more than five million people since April 2004. The industry recognizes that wireless users are moving beyond voice and taking advantage of the data services and applications that their mobile phones provide, including text messaging, multi-media messaging (MMS), downloadable ring tones and other applications like games.
"The success of ring tones has shown us that consumers want to personalize their mobile phones and Mobile Phone Wallpaper provides a perfect opportunity to take that to a new level using photos," said Lisa Gansky, general manager, Digital Imaging Services, Eastman Kodak Company. "As mobile imaging and camera phone use expands, Kodak's position as an industry leader puts us in a unique position to make getting a picture on your phone as easy as receiving a phone call."
Currently available in the United States at www.kodakmobile.com and www.ofoto.com, Mobile Phone Wallpaper is easy to create in a few simple steps and is available to subscribers of major wireless carriers including, Verizon Wireless, Cingular Wireless and AT&T Wireless.
Mobile Phone Wallpaper costs $1.49 each with a free KODAK Mobile Service membership. As a special introductory offer the first two wallpapers are free. Users who subscribe to the KODAK Mobile Service will receive three PC wallpapers a month as a part of their subscription (currently $2.99 - $3.99 per month, depending on the carrier).
