Verizon Wireless is collecting old, unused cellular phones in an effort to refurbish and reprogram the phones and donate them to victims of domestic violence. The company's phone collection drive is being held in conjunction with the national "Donate A Phone" campaign.
The program, started by the Wireless Foundation, Motorola and the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, has collected used wireless phones from across the country. The phones can provide an important safety link for potential victims of domestic violence.
Verizon Wireless will be collecting phones at all store locations in the Gulf Coast region. The Baton Rouge store locations are at the Mall of Louisiana, 7474 Corporate Blvd. and 4855 Sherwood Forest Blvd.
