BellSouth Cellular and Ericsson to Co-market Next-Generation Wireless Office System; Mobile Advantage Offers Enterprises 'One Phone One Number'
BellSouth Cellular Corp., and Ericsson Inc., Wednesday announced that they have agreed to jointly market Ericsson's Mobile Advantage Wireless Office system.
BellSouth Cellular will offer the premises-based, digital wireless office solution to its business customers throughout the Southeast.
The Mobile Advantage system enables users to make and receive calls both within and outside the office using one phone and one phone number, increasing the accessibility of today's mobile workforce. It enables enterprises to integrate their in-building PBX networks with the public switched mobile networks of service operators. When in the office, a user's mobile phone becomes a four or five digit extension of the company's regular in-building PBX system. After leaving the office building, incoming calls are seamlessly routed to the user's mobile phone via the public switched mobile network.
"Teaming with Ericsson allows us to give BellSouth enterprise customers a highly featured, one-phone, one-number wireless office system that can be used both inside or outside the office," said Larry Powell, Vice President of Marketing for BellSouth Cellular. "This is another communications solution of the future for mobility and productivity, and we are excited about being able to offer it to our business customers."
Ericsson's Mobile Advantage wireless office system is based on the TDMA-136 standard and operates on both 800MHz and 1900MHz licensed frequencies. The fully digital mobile communications system incorporates all major PBX features, including PBX voice mail.
"We look forward to working closely with BellSouth and their customers as we jointly deploy the Mobile Advantage system across the nation," said Tony Jeffreys, Business Development Manager for Ericsson Enterprise Solutions. "The simplicity of using one phone and keeping track of only one number for business purposes is very attractive and has garnered a lot of interest."
