Business/Technology Editors
LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 23, 2002
"Outstanding Search Service(1)" will enhance search results for users
of InfoSpace's meta-search products
Today at the Search Engine Strategies Conference and Expo in London, InfoSpace, Inc. (NASDAQ: INSP), a provider of wireless and Internet software and application services, and Fast Search & Transfer(TM) (FAST), a leading developer of search and real-time content filtering technologies, announced that FAST's award-winning Web search will be available for distribution through InfoSpace's meta-search products. The addition of FAST's pure Web search results within InfoSpace's meta-search products is designed to enhance the user experience and deliver more relevant results.
"As the market leader in meta-search, the addition of FAST to our products proves our commitment to innovating and delivering the most relevant results to users," said York Baur, InfoSpace executive vice president, wireline and broadband. "Meta-search delivers the ability to search a wide variety of search engines at once, retrieving the best results from across more of the Web. The addition of FAST technology provides users of our products with an enhanced search experience."
InfoSpace's meta-search products power search results at Dogpile and MetaCrawler, as well as Excite, among other Web sites. Under the agreement, FAST will deliver results from its worldwide search services database, as well as its MP3, multimedia and news worldwide databases searchable in 49 languages.
"Rather than competing with our clients, FAST enables their success. Providing InfoSpace's meta-search users with the freshest and most relevant search results is a step toward driving additional traffic, increasing customer loyalty, and ultimately driving revenue back to InfoSpace," said John M. Lervik, CEO of FAST. "We are looking forward to enhancing the search experience of this extensive community of Web searchers and are excited about the additional exposure of our Web index within this knowledgeable new community."
