MySQL AB of Sweden and US-based Sleepycat Software Inc have jointly developed a new open source SQL server.

MaxSQL combines the interface of MySQL AB's data access language and SQL services with the transaction and data management services of Sleepycat Software's Berkeley DB.

Features of MaxSQL include the ability to perform transactions with full recoverability for committed changes, management of databases up to 256 terabytes in size and the ability to survive power failures or crashes without losing data.

MaxSQL can be downloaded from http://www.maxsql.com free of charge and is compatible with Windows 95/98/NT, most variants of Unix and Linux.
